Add an attachment to a logbook entry

What you'll do

Attach a file to a logbook entry: field photos, damage reports, PDFs, documents, or any other file that supports the record. Attachments are stored with the entry and accessible to anyone who can view the logbook.

Before you start

  • You are in an event (named or default) and creating a new detailed entry. Attachments can only be added through the detailed entry form, not quick entries
  • You have a role with at least Contribute or Edit permission on Logbooks (the built-in Editor role has this)
  • You have the file on your device or accessible via drag-and-drop

Steps

  1. Click + Add New Detailed Entry and fill in the entry text and other fields as needed.

  2. Scroll to the Attachments section.

  3. Add files using either method:

    a. Drag and drop: drag files from your desktop or file explorer directly into the drop zone.

    b. Browse: click the drop zone to open a file picker and select files from your device.

  4. Confirm the files appear in the attachments area.

  5. Click Save.

Result

The entry is saved with the attached files. Other users viewing the entry can download or preview the attachments directly from the logbook.

Tips

  • There are no file type or size restrictions. Photos, PDFs, Word documents, Excel files, KML files, audio recordings. Anything you can upload, COBRA stores.
  • Attach field photos early and often. A timestamped photo of damage, road conditions, or resource staging is worth more than a paragraph of description in after-action review.
  • If you need to add files to an event without tying them to a specific logbook entry, use the Files tool instead. The Files tool is the event's document library; logbook attachments are evidence attached to a specific record.
